Under the provisions of the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, some databases are required to be formally registered in the database registry. Among these, are databases that meet one of the following Conditions:
- The database contains data relating to more than 10,000 individuals and its main purpose is to collect personal data for providing it to another as a business practice or for consideration, including direct mailing services (i.e., a database managed by a data broker).
- The database controller is a public body as defined in section 23 of the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, unless the database includes personal data on the public body’s employees only.
The database registry is publicly available and managed by the PPA.
