Dan founded Or-Hof Law in 2013 with a vision to create an environment of excellence with a personal touch to innovators. His expertise is derived from both academic and practical experience, with extensive knowledge of the technology and innovation industry. Dan is a New York and Israeli attorney and an acknowledged international leader in the field of data protection and cyber laws. He holds an LLM degree from UC Berkeley and Tel Aviv University (summa cum laude), and he is a certified privacy professional (CIPP/E; CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP). In 2022 Dan won the IAPP Global Vanguard Award for EMEA and in 2024 he was acknowledged as a Westin Fellow Emeritus. As a law and technology highly specialized boutique practice, Or-Hof Law has gained leader, Band 1 and elite rankings in cyber and technology laws by prominent law ranking guides. Together with data protection world leaders as partners, Dan founded Strand Alliance, an international privacy and cyber security alliance of leading consulting firms, with a global reach. Dan served as a member of the Privacy Protection Public Council for 8 years, advised the Israeli government and parliament on privacy bills and regulations, and contributed to the legislative processes of various laws, including in relation to credit reports, biometric data and medical records. Dan has also taken part in the legislative process of the large reform to the Protection of Privacy Law, known as Bill No. 13. Dan has founded and is the current chair of the Israeli Data Protection Professionals Forum (IDPF). He served as a member of the cyber security task force of the Israeli bar association, to form the published binding information security obligations for attorneys has formed and was the first chair of the IAPP KnowledgeNet Tel Aviv chapter, and has served as a member of the IAPP Publications Advisory Board, 2022. Dan lectures at Tel Aviv University and in several DPO training courses, he published numerous authored guides, opinions, and position papers o+n data protection and privacy regulation, he is a frequent speaker and commentator.
