Under the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, an act or omission that violates certain provisions is considered a tortious action and may lead to a court ruling for damages compensation in a civil or class action. In addition, privacy violations are subject to statutory and exemplary damages such as statutory damages of up to ILS100,000 or exemplary damages of up to ILS10,000 for database-related violations, such as a failure to provide a privacy notice (subject to a 30-day warning); and failure to comply with requests to exercise the right of access and rectification.
